Norman W. Stinger

Officer Norman Stinger succumbed to injuries sustained when he was struck by a truck on Ridge Avenue near Broad Street while investigating a burglar alarm at a heating and roofing plant.

The alarm turned out to have been caused by a short circuit. Officer Stinger was transported to Hahnemann Hospital, where he died 11 days later.

Officer Stinger had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 41 years. He was survived by his wife and son.
