i am the daughter of Barbara Nell Hoeser Kurek and Joe kurek, now both deceased. I believe Marcia and my mom were cousins. I was 15 when this happened and we all went to his visitation. I have never forgotten this because from what i remember. there were so many people there and lots of Houston Police officers. I remember some were wearing gloves and standing at attention the whole time we were there and i remember seeing a tear run down one of their faces but they stayed at attention. There was so much respect and love and grief and emotions so strong you could feel it. i still do to this day. I saw my mom with a lady think was Marcia go up to his casket and they put their heads together and cried. I know the whole family was so upset and irate at what had happened, the way he died. I have thought about him through the years and just decided to see if I could find out what happened. I never forgot his name. I knew he was murdered but never knew exactly how it happened. Now I know and to find out the person who did this didn't get the death penalty is unbelievable! and was released after only serving 14 years!? It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and a sinking feeling in my stomach. A hole in my heart. I know the people that did this will face true judgement one day but until then I hope they have no joy or peace in their miserable lives. I see Marcia writes to him and loved him dearly and still grieves for a life that was cut short and for what could have and should have been. God bless you Marcia and your children. You will see him again one day. though I truly know how those words don't begin to give you any comfort for all the time and memories you and your children never got to have with such a beloved husband and father.
