Patrolman George Spencer and Captain Joseph Zimmerman were both shot and killed by an intoxicated man on Franklin Street while taking two women to the police station for questioning.

After fleeing the scene, the suspect fatally shot himself a short time later.

Godspeed and RIP to these two officers! My brother was on MCPD for 20+ years and he was almost EOW on his watch and confronted by a perp with an automatic rifle, (Machine Gun) was scary after I found that out, somehow he talked the guy into surrendering it...
