James D. Swint

Officer Swint was killed when he swerved into a telephone pole in order to miss another car during a pursuit.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of seven years, Officer Swint served with the Brunswick Police Department for four years. He is survived by his wife. The City of Brunswick established an educational scholarship in his name as a living memorial.

I went to school with Jim, as well as his wife Denise in Lima OH. I was actually in Denise’s class. Jim was a fine athlete, and an even better man.

It doesn’t surprise me the accolades from his friends and police family. They are well deserved.
