Robert Patrick Smith

Police Officer Bob Smith died of a heart attack after a two-block foot chase to help capture a man with a knife who had been threatening parents outside the Gesu Parochial School at 18th and Stiles streets.

Officer Smith was a United States Army veteran and had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 20 years, assigned to the 23rd District. Officer Smith was survived by his wife and two sons.

On today, the 45th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
