Officer John Anderson succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained six weeks earlier when he and another officer responded to a suicidal person call.

A female had called the police department and stated her boyfriend was going to kill her and then commit suicide. Officer Anderson arrived on the scene and was shot through the door as the officers knocked on it. The suspect was apprehended after a gunfight with officers.

Officer Anderson had served with the Wayne Police Department for 5 years. He is survived by his wife and two children.

I remember when Lenny first started as a Cadet(?) in Wayne, 1969. He was so enthusiastic. What an asset to the city.

I heard of this death years after it occurred. As a child of a slain Detroit police officer myself, my heart went out to Lennies children. Here it is years later, I still think of them. Blessings.
