Lieutenant Ben Sentell was killed in an automobile crash on Route 24 near Louisville, Georgia, during a period of heavy rain and flooding.
His car went out of control and collided with another vehicle.
Lieutenant Sentell had served with the Georgia State Patrol for 27 years. He was survived by his wife.
