Robert M. Semrov

Trooper Robert Semrov was shot and killed after stopping a man for speeding in front of the suspect's house on East Lake Road at 4:40 pm.

Trooper Semrov allowed the suspect to enter his house to retrieve his driver’s license. The suspect emerged with a .22 caliber rifle and shot Trooper Semrov six times as he sat in his patrol car.

The suspect, 30, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 8 to 30 years. He was paroled on December 9, 1986.

Trooper Semrov had served with the New York State Police for 6 years. He was survived by his wife and mother.
