Trooper Semrov was shot and killed after stopping a traffic violator in front of the suspect's house. Trooper Semrov allowed the suspect to enter his house to retrieve his driver’s license. The suspect emerged with a .22 caliber rifle and shot Trooper Semrov six times as he sat in his patrol car.
The suspect was convicted of Trooper Semrov's murder but served only 5 years in prison.
Trooper Semrov had served with the agency for 6 years. He was survived by his wife and mother.
