Sergeant Alberto Alvarado-Velez was shot and killed as he was attempting to arrest a mentally disturbed man, neighbors said was firing a gun into the air.

Sergeant Alvarado-Velez was survived by his wife and daughter.

Somehow I came upon this page and I don't know how. Alberto Alvarado-Velez was my uncle. Although I was a child when he was taken from us, he is missed each and every day. His only daughter now has a son who's middle name is after him. He did what he loved and sadly was taken from us too soon. He was a hero.
My condolences to the families of fallen PO and those serving our country. Prayers and blessings.
