George J. Sallade

Patrolman George Sallade was killed in a motorcycle crash near 1300 River Avenue.

The front tire of the motorcycle blew out, causing him to be thrown over the handle bars. Another officer who was riding with him realized that Patrolman Sallade was no longer following him. The officer turned around, retraced his route, and found Patrolman Sallade in the roadway.

George was my uncle- my mom's brother- and never knew him but know well his son George (now dead 11 yrs.) and wife Nancy and their 5 kids- Jeanne, Anne, Chris, Jack and Beth.

Mom told me when he died a full city block of people waited to come to the viewing he was so well loved.

Also, Aunt Betty, his wife re-married but always said HE was the love of her life. 9/7/18
