Patrolman Safreed was killed when his cruiser was struck head-on by a drunk driver. He had just started his shift at around midnight and was several blocks from the station when he was struck. He was able to call in that he was involved in an accident. Patrolman Safreed was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
