Officer Bruce Russell was shot and killed following a vehicle chase.
The suspect's vehicle crashed, and as Officer Russell exited his cruiser, the man opened fire on him, striking him in between the panels of his vest. He was able to return fire and wound the suspect, who was later apprehended.
Officer Russell had been with the Roseville Police Department for one year. He was survived by his wife and 2-year-old daughter.
