Delbert Junior Roush, Sr.

Lieutenant Roush and Patrolman Eddie Duncan were shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop at approximately 3:00 am. Lieutenant Roush was on his lunch break and had gone to backup Patrolman Duncan when the shooting occurred.

The suspect was apprehended and received two life sentences.

Lieutenant Roush had served with the agency for 33 years. He was survived by his wife, daughter, and three sons.

I was serving as a Deputy Sheriff with the Kanawha County Sheriffs Office when Lt. Roush was murdered. I will never forget that night. When I arrived at the scene he had already been transported to the hospital. Our Department stayed out and assisted CPD until the suspect was apprehended. I think about Lt Roush and Officer Duncan all the time. They were certainly two heroes
