Officer Jeffrey Ross was shot and killed while leading a team of narcotics officers on a 'buy/bust' narcotics raid for cocaine at a local bar at 4950 N. Casa Grande Highway.

While entering a rear office, the suspect, who was also the bar manager, shot him in the chest. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead 17 minutes after his arrival. Officer Ross and other officers on the scene returned fire, killing the suspect.

Officer Ross had served with the Tucson Police Department for four years. He was survived by his wife, also a Tucson police officer, parents, brother, and sister.

Our Rincon High School was a few weekends ago so many years have
passed we honored you in June 2017 Marcia Williams made a beautiful colleague of you with photos as a student in High School class of 1972
and as a Tucson Police Officer. We have missed you since your passing and will honor you always as an honorable gentleman always as we knew you in school classes and fellow athletes.
Your family as well are saddened beyond belief as you were doing your job to protect our Tucson Community..and we desire to honor you by having your name further remembered. Miss you Jeff Ross.
