Trooper Pearle Roberts was killed in a motorcycle crash in Mount Carmel while returning to headquarters following duty at a college football game.

The front wheel of his police motorcycle became caught in a streetcar track on Whitney Boulevard. He was thrown to the ground and sustained fatal injuries.

Trooper Roberts was a United States Marine Corps WWI veteran and served with the Connecticut State Police for five months, assigned to the Danielson Barracks. He was survived by his expectant wife.

On today, the 100th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the USMC in Vera Cruz, Mexico in 1914 as well as during World War I.
