Deputy Sheriff Don Reimann suffered a fatal heart attack while pursuing a motorcycle on County Road 50 near Hamburg.

When Deputy Reimann attempted to pull over a speeder, the driver would not stop. Around 8:48 p.m., he radioed for backup and continued to pursue the driver. During the chase, Deputy Reimann's vehicle veered off the road and went into a field. Responding officers found him slumped behind the wheel at 8:55 p.m., six miles from where he attempted to pull over the driver.

The person he was chasing was apprehended a short time later and charged with several counts stemming from the chase, but was not charged with Deputy Reimann's death.

Deputy Reimann had served with the Carver County Sheriff's Office for 19 years. He was survived by his parents and sister.
