Charles B. Redmond

Police Officer Charles Redmond was killed in an automobile accident when he was crushed against a telegraph pole while riding on a running board.

He and his partner had stopped a vehicle for concern it was a safety hazard. The officers told the man to take the vehicle back to the shop and decided to ride with him. The vehicle attempted to pull to a curb in front of 1405 North Seventh Street to let a streetcar pass. As he did so, Officer Redmond was crushed against the pole and killed.


Officer Redmond had been with the agency for 13 years and was survived by his five children.
