Chief David Reason, I have recently took over the police department in Stantonsburg, NC. While I was cleaning out the PD, I came across a piece of paper that was appeared weathered in the corner of a closet here. As I carefully opened it, it was a certificate for The Medal of Valor presented to you on the 19th Day of September 1966. It states, "In the face of gunfire and without the benefit of cover this police officer unhesitatingly sacrificed his life in the performance of his duties". It was an honor to come across this award you so deserved. It was now framed and displayed in our department lobby, so that other officer that follow your foot steps here, will always know of the ultimate sacrifice that you made for our citizens. You are gone but not forgotten. You will be represented Thursday, May 3, 2018 at this years Annual Peace Officers Memorial Day being held in Wilson NC. You may rest in peace now brother, I will cover the rest of your watch. Until we meet for the first time on the other side. God bless.
