Marshall G. Rader

Constable Marshall Rader was shot and killed as he and another constable attempted to serve a domestic assault warrant on a man in the Bulls Gap area.

As the constables walked onto the porch the subject inside picked up a shotgun and opened fire, shooting Constable Rader in the face. The man surrendered after several sheriff's deputies responded to the scene after Constable Rader's murder.

Constable Rader was survived by his wife, six daughters, and one son.

Marshall Rader was my grandfather. He died before I was even born. My mother has now passed as well. I’ve always been told he died in the line of duty on a domestic disturbance call. Although at one point in his career he did have a car accident, that was not the cause of death. I’ll look into getting this corrected. Rest in peace. I’ll meet you one day. Thank you for your service along with many others.
