Patrolman George Prentiss was killed in a motorcycle accident while patrolling Route 8 in Farnams. He was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a utility pole.

Patrolman Prentiss had served with the Massachusetts State Police for four years. He was survived by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
