Daniel Alan Pratt

Police Officer Daniel Pratt was shot and killed by gang members during a drive-by shooting.

The shooter was sentenced to two life sentences without parole. The driver was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison and was released in 2016.

Officer Pratt, a Marine sergeant who served at Camp Pendleton, had served with the Los Angeles Police Department for six years. He is survived by his wife and four children.

I remember working at 77th division the night it happened and hearing that horrible officer needs help call come over the radio. I felt helpless since I was working at the desk and couldn't respond. I just started praying that every would be ok.

Also, I had you for a day as my training officer about 4-6 months prior to that horrible night. You definitely left an good impression on me that I still can remember having you as my partner.

I left LAPD about 8 years later after that night but still today I have never forgot you!
