I was a 15 year old Township Resident on that fateful day in 1972. I didn't know Officer Posey or Davis by name. I had seen them on my walks to Kennett to deposit my $12.75 from mowing our 4 acres of grass at the National Bank with a stop at Newberry's or the Kennett Kandy Kitchen.
I recall the shock and sadness of the assassination, no different that President Kennedy's 8 years before in my mind. I recall riding my bike to one or both Officer's Memorials driven by sheer civic mindedness.
I believe the Officers do not Rest. I believe they keep watch by being that sixth sense of law enforcement to draw a gun.. or a smile as the situation warrants.
