Adrian,

I don't know if you would still be alive and reflecting over me, or if you and I would never be having to think about this if I was in the vehicle with you that night. You see, that faithful night, I was going to ride back with you, but I wasn't able to contact my wife by phone in time, so I stayed at the hospital having to wait for my wife as you drove back, alone. That bullet may have been meant for me. I will never know. I still think about it. Sadly, I didn't find out about you being shot until the next day while I was guarding the same prisoner and watching the news. It startled me and I had to hold my emotions in so that the inmate wouldn't see me crying about your death. All these years, I have kept this to myself. Adrian, you were my friend and I will never forget you!
