Patrolman William A. Perrin was shot and fatally wounded by another man who believed that he was about to be robbed. The shooting took place in front of 8515 S. Paulina Street.
A subject was in his automobile when a flyer squad drove up along side him. He mistook them fo holdup men and fired eight shots, killing Officer Perrin and wounding two other patrolmen.
One December 1, 1924, the shooter was exonerated by the Coroner.
