Dominick Paparelli

Police Officer Dominick Paparelli was struck and killed by an automobile while directing traffic near the intersection of Main Street and Church Street.

He was directing traffic in the intersection for a midnight mass when a driver of a vehicle lost control due to ice striking him and then a another vehicle. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries several hours after being admitted.

The driver told police that he had hit a ice patch and could not slow down in enough time. The driver was charged with involuntary manslaughter and released on bail.

Officer Paparelli was a U.S Army veteran of WWI.
