Patrol Officer Reuben Paine succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained after responding to a domestic disturbance. Despite being wounded, Officer Paine was able to return fire and killed the suspect.

Officer Paine was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWI and had served with the Marblehead Police Department for over 33 years.

On today, the 75th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Navy during World War I. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
