Officer Frank Nussbaum succumbed to injuries sustained 10 days earlier when he slipped on ice near the Sixth Precinct station house, which was located on the 400 block of New Jersey Avenue, NW.
He was taken to George Washington Hospital where he remained until succumbing to his wounds.
Officer Nussbaum had served with the Metropolitan Police Department for almost 38 years. He was survived by his wife, two sisters, and three brothers.
