Officer Michael Northey was struck by a vehicle and killed during a traffic stop. He and his partner had just stopped two men on motorcycles and had arrested one of them for carrying a handgun. As Officer Northey stood next to his cruiser's open door preparing to get into the car another vehicle struck him. The vehicle carried Officer Northey 47 feet where it struck the tow truck which was carrying the motorcycle. Officer Northey succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Uncle, I wish I could have met you, I wish you could see your brother (my father) today. We had your badge hung up in our house as we grew up. We love you so much and I thank you for who you helped my dad become.
