Reflections for K9 Bumi
Dear Sheriff Leon Lott:
We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of K9 Bumi, your loyal and brave canine. I can only imagine how difficult this time must be for you, K9 Bumi’s handler, and your fellow officers at the Coweta County Sheriff's Office. Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your K-9 Bumi.
It is evident that Police K9 Bumi is not just a highly trained member of your team but also a beloved companion and a true asset to the community. The dedication and commitment of both the K-9 and their handler are evident in the invaluable services they provide, from tracking down suspects to detecting dangerous substances.
The bond between a Police K-9 and their handler is unparalleled, built on trust, loyalty, and mutual respect. Losing a K-9 partner is like losing a member of the family, and I can only imagine the sense of loss and grief the handler must be experiencing. Please know that you and your fellow officers are in our thoughts during this challenging time.
Police K9 Bumi has left a lasting impact on the community through exceptional service and unwavering dedication. Bravery in the face of danger and commitment to ensuring public safety are commendable and greatly appreciated.
As you and your colleagues mourn the loss of Police K-9 Bumi, please remember that you are not alone. The community stands with you, grateful for the sacrifices you make daily to protect and serve.
Having served as a Law Enforcement Professional for 44+ years, and as a law enforcement family, if there is anything we can do to offer support or assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.
May the memories of Police K-9 Bumi and the legacy left behind bring you comfort and strength during this tough time. K-9 Bumi’s service will always be remembered, and the impact K-9 Bumi had on the community will resonate for years to come.
With deepest sympathy,

How much does it take, how many losses of K9 officers does it take? WHEN will the penalty for killing a K9 officer be the same as taking the life of our human officers? Yes, they are "dogs", but those in service know that is just not the case. K9s are integral, highly trained members of a team and work with a partner who's life they will give their own for. If the K9 is lost, it is because his human partner was the target. May God deeply bless and comfort Bumi's partner, department and family. Bumi, let your partner know you are safe in the arms of the Lord, and enjoying your fellow K9s who served and gave like you.

I am so very sorry for this devastating loss. I would be honored if you would allow me to do a portrait of Bumi, as a gift to the department. You could see the other Hero K9 portraits I've done. My website is my name. I apologize if this is inappropriate to mention here....I mean it with the greatest of respect to Bumi's service

To many, K-9 Bumi was just a dog. As a retired K-9 handler I know better. They are family. And I know no words that express my sorrow for your loss, or how to help you heal through this loss.
The nine years my dog was on the road, he was never hurt... and he never let me get hurt. Some are not so lucky. A brother K-9 officer in our county lost his dog to a suspect during a foot chase and it was devastating to him and his family.
i hope that somehow you will be able to find a way to bring a new partner in your life. So that you can continue using your special skills and love.... God bless.

Heavenly Father, Lord our God, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our K9 Partner, Bumi, of the Richland County SC Sheriff's Department, was suddenly and violently taken from us; Shot & Killed in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, law enforcement colleagues, and friends by the power and protection of the cross. I ask this through Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and by His authority. I pray. Amen.
