Reflections for K9 Hudson

The First & The Last

The first to sense the hostility of a suspect,
The first to react to protect his master,
The first to enter where danger lurks,
The first to detect the hidden intruder.
The first to take action against violence.
The first to sense his master’s joy.
The first to know his master’s sorrow or fear.
The first to give his life in defense of his master.
The last to be forgotten by those who work with others like him.
They know him as a “Partner”, not just an animal.

I only recently began to realize and understand what our K9 officers can do and how they love to work, play and protect us. Needless to say I have used two boxes of tissues reading about these wonderful creatures.
So, so sad to hear of K9 Hudson's passing and can't imagine how his handler and family are coping. K9 Hudson paid the ultimate price, and gladly, to keep the community and handler safe. Safe travels to Heaven. You'll unite with your dad one day.

Greetings, We heard the news on WBBM News Radio last evening about Hudson. Of all places in Geneva, Illinois not far from where I used to live and to learn about what happened is none other than a terrible tragedy. Our Deepest condolences to the Kane County Sheriff's Office, Hudson's handler and to All of the K9 handlers across the Nation. Those K9 Officers are Huge in Police Tactic's and are extremely instrumental in capturing criminals. Hudson is an exemplary example of his dedication, skills and paying the Ultimate Price during his tenor. A friend on mine had a German Shepard and was trained in Schutzhund which Kaiser was his name was too extremely smart.
We also have a dog however he may not be a Police K9 but is very protective. Got to Love Dogs. RIP Hudson your life was taken away too soon from doing what you did Best! God Speed....

K9 Hudson, With such determination in your eyes, it is no surprise to see that you rushed ahead fearlessly to follow orders to do your job while protecting your partner. You were sent by God to be a guardian and succeeded! The only question is the outcome of the direction of you and the perp after the smoke cleared. We know YOU crossed the Rainbow Bridge and are basking in your reward with your fellow heroes in the Heavens! Not so sure about the demise of evil -

My heart breaks for Hudson’s handler & family. When I heard it he situation I cried. It is absolutely heart wrenching the situation. With understanding he is trained for the field and risk. I just wish there could have been another way to help prevent this from happening. Thank you for all your sacrifice and being such hero. Your life shouldn’t have been taken so soon because of a monster himself.
Rest in Peace and remember you’ll always be remembered by many.

I am saddened that in this situation a beautiful hard working K-9 was used when this suspect was closed in by police vehicles. I understand the role of the K-9, but I need to understand why Hudson was used in this situation as guns were drawn by police officers. I am sure there are many animal lovers that need to understand this.

I feel so very sorry for Hudson's handler. I cannot imagine the pain and anguish he is experiencing. I am thankful no other fatalities occurred. All of this over a person who did wrong and stole a car!

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.
