The First & The Last

The first to sense the hostility of a suspect,
The first to react to protect his master,
The first to enter where danger lurks,
The first to detect the hidden intruder.
The first to take action against violence.
The first to sense his master’s joy.
The first to know his master’s sorrow or fear.
The first to give his life in defense of his master.
The last to be forgotten by those who work with others like him.
They know him as a “Partner”, not just an animal.

K-9 Champ, the Lord decided to take you and your partner Officer Mulbauer home together. He always seems to take the very best home early. Your bond was great in life here, and even stronger as your spirits enter the greatest Kingdom of all. You can rest in His arms, and send your strength, peace, hope and love to those you've left behind. May your arrival in Heaven together answer the questions of those who wonder why God allows such seemingly tragic events to happen. There are no consequences or mistakes when it comes to the finest.

Rest in peace, Champ. I'm sure you were a very brave dog. That you were dedicated to protecting your partner, catching bad guys and helping the public.
You might want to look up Missy, Dolly, Katie and Sadie in heaven. They were all very good girls. Tell them their Daddy said hi. I'm sure they'd love to hear all about your adventures as a police dog.

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.
