Reflections for K9 Frankie

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 ESV]

“And ALL flesh shall see the salvation of God.” [Luke 3:6 ESV]

“For NOT ALL flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish.” [1 Corinthians 15:39 ESV]

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” [Matthew 25:23 ESV]

This poem was written for K9 Fargo of the Richland County Sheriff's Department in Honor of the unquestionable sacrifices K9's make in their everyday service to their partners and Agencies! Let this poem stand as a tribute to all our K9 Heroes who give the ultimate sacrifice!

“Our K9 Named Fargo"

He was just another Police dog,
I was going to have to train,
He was a beautiful “Belgian Malinois”,
And Fargo was his name.

We worked so hard together,
From sun up until Night,
His future as a Police Dog,
Became our daily plight.

This dog could do anything,
He was so easy to train,
Each day he made me so proud,
My partner “Fargo” was his name.

After months of rigorous training,
Fargo was ready for the road,
It didn’t take long to prove himself,
He was one of the best-I was told!

He hit on the drugs every time,
And tracked down the criminals too,
He did everything I ask of him,
There was nothing he wouldn’t do.

We stayed together day and night,
This dog I had to train,
He was my partner and my friend,
“Fargo” was his name!

It was the 16th of December,
With the moon and stars so bright,
When “Fargo” hit the trail of a robber,
My heart stopped when shots rang in the night!

My Partner was hit several times,
This K9 I had to train,
We cried because he didn’t make it,
My partner “Fargo” was his name!

K-9 Frankie, your name describes you! Free, honest and direct - no nonsense, a free man. But how can you be described by a name? You are certainly one of the most handsome K-9s ever and one of the bravest. You were given special grace by God - looks, brains, courage, strength. You never faltered, never failed, never hesitated. Always out front, ready to serve in any way to guide and protect your partner. You sensed the imminent danger, but never stopped to think of your own safety.
Enjoy the glory and rest you deserve! You shine as a very magnificent star in the skies!

God bless this hero K-9. I pray his soul is running free in heaven. Albert Einstein said energy cannot be created or destroyed. I believe animals are with us in the next life. As an ex: K9 handler myself, my heart goes out to his handler and all of our extended blue family.
