K9 Promise
My eyes are your eyes, to watch and protect you and yours.
My ears are your ears, To hear and detect evil minds in the dark.
My nose is your nose, To scent the invader of your domain
And so you may live, My life is aso yours.

K9 Prayer
I will lay down my life for you and expect nothing but love in return.

Ronin had been retired less than one year. He won dozens of honors in Western States Police K9 Trials and Top Team of the Year Overall. Also Top Protection honors as the oldest K9 in field.
He was once clocked at a speed of 35 mph (using a radar gun).
Intelligence, courage, and accomplishment are trademarks.

Sacramento Sheriffs Deputies include 11 K9 teams.
One less since the loss of K9 8 Nikk following a stroke while on active duty. EOS 3-19-2018

Since my original post, there are now nearly 100 plaques for these K9s. Because they also serve as community ambassadors at public events and classrooms, they make the news on TV, on line at Twitter, Pinterest, and more.

I protect all officers with my life, and would gladly take a bullet in their place.
I am sent in to find lost chidren and fugitives on the run.
I find drugs and weapons and even bombs. I am the first sent in and often last to leave. I am the nose and ears of the officers.
i protect and serve them. I would die for any and all officers. I only ask for your love and care.

Guardians of the Night
Trust in me, my friend, for I am your comrade,
I will protect you with my last breath,
when all others have left you, and the loneliness of night
closes in.I will be at your side.

Together we will conquer all obstacles, and search out
those who might wish harm to others,
All I ask of you is compassion, the caring touch of your hnds,
It is for you that I will unselfishly give my life,
and spend my nights unrested,
Althogh our days together may be marked by the passing of the seasons,
Know that each day at your side is my reward.

4 more stanzas.

If we should meet again on another street,
I will gladly take up your fight,
I am a Police Working Dog, and together,
We are guardians of the night.

K9 Cannon - what a beautifully handsome boy! You never hesitated or quit, always pushing yourself through without stopping until "mission accomplished."
May you enjoy the coolness, rest and joy you so well deserve, along with meeting your new comrades who have gone before you over the Rainbow Bridge.
Ask God to grant your partner peace, safety and blessings.

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 ESV]

This poem was written for K9 Fargo of the Richland County Sheriff's Department in Honor of the unquestionable sacrifices K9's make in their everyday service to their partners and Agencies! Let this poem stand as a tribute to all our K9 Heroes who give the ultimate sacrifice!

“Our K9 Named Fargo"

He was just another Police dog,
I was going to have to train,
He was a beautiful “Belgian Malinois”,
And Fargo was his name.

We worked so hard together,
From sun up until Night,
His future as a Police Dog,
Became our daily plight.

This dog could do anything,
He was so easy to train,
Each day he made me so proud,
My partner “Fargo” was his name.

After months of rigorous training,
Fargo was ready for the road,
It didn’t take long to prove himself,
He was one of the best-I was told!

He hit on the drugs every time,
And tracked down the criminals too,
He did everything I ask of him,
There was nothing he wouldn’t do.

We stayed together day and night,
This dog I had to train,
He was my partner and my friend,
“Fargo” was his name!

It was the 16th of December,
With the moon and stars so bright,
When “Fargo” hit the trail of a robber,
My heart stopped when shots rang in the night!

My Partner was hit several times,
This K9 I had to train,
We cried because he didn’t make it,
My partner “Fargo” was his name!
