Reflections for K9 Kitt

Thank K9 Kitt for your service and sacrifice to save your partner and other officers on that terrible day. You and your fallen fellow K9s will not be forgotten. May the public support the police and K9s that serve in our communities. That would be the greatest tribute to give to Officer Kitt in memory, along with supporting the foundation and run done in his name.

I just learned that K-9 Kitt took the rounds meant for his handler, bravely giving up his life that his best friend may live. Selfless act. I hope he get s a statue outside the station as a tribute to his bravery and love.

The First & The Last

The first to sense the hostility of a suspect,
The first to react to protect his master,
The first to enter where danger lurks,
The first to detect the hidden intruder.
The first to take action against violence.
The first to sense his master’s joy.
The first to know his master’s sorrow or fear.
The first to give his life in defense of his master.
The last to be forgotten by those who work with others like him.
They know him as a “Partner”, not just an animal.

This poem was written for K9 Fargo of the Richland County Sheriff's Department in Honor of the unquestionable sacrifices K9's make in their everyday service to their partners and Agencies! Let this poem stand as a tribute to all our K9 Heroes who give the ultimate sacrifice!

“Our K9 Named Fargo"

He was just another Police dog,
I was going to have to train,
He was a beautiful “Belgian Malinois”,
And Fargo was his name.

We worked so hard together,
From sun up until Night,
His future as a Police Dog,
Became our daily plight.

This dog could do anything,
He was so easy to train,
Each day he made me so proud,
My partner “Fargo” was his name.

After months of rigorous training,
Fargo was ready for the road,
It didn’t take long to prove himself,
He was one of the best-I was told!

He hit on the drugs every time,
And tracked down the criminals too,
He did everything I ask of him,
There was nothing he wouldn’t do.

We stayed together day and night,
This dog I had to train,
He was my partner and my friend,
“Fargo” was his name!

It was the 16th of December,
With the moon and stars so bright,
When “Fargo” hit the trail of a robber,
My heart stopped when shots rang in the night!

My Partner was hit several times,
This K9 I had to train,
We cried because he didn’t make it,
My partner “Fargo” was his name!

K-9 Britt, Your story broke my heart. Your entire life was given in service. What a "supernatural" creature you were to withstand the rigors and hardships of police life for so many years! May you have a special, special place over the Rainbow Bridge, and may your partner receive a special blessing from God.

Breaks my heart to hear about these awesome police dogs, my brother was a
K 9 officer in Washington State. These dogs are heroes, just like our officers in Uniform.

May you REST IN PEACE SWEET BOY KITT. You are whole now running and playing with all the other fur babies up at the rainbow bridge. I pray that your Dad gets better soon. What you did for your Dad was Amazing. You and your Dad will be together again someday. I have been with an officer now a Sgt. for many years and I don't think they get the RESPECT they deserve. People who voted for Biden this is the world you wanted. It's just too bad the rest of us have to suffer. PLEASE SHOW OUR POLICE THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE NO MATTER WHAT HAS BEEN SAID AND DONE TO THEM, THEY HAVE AND WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR US AND WE NEED THEM. OUR POLICE ARE FILLED WITH HONOR, COURAGE, INTEGRITY, AND SERVICE. ST. MICHAEL PLEASE WATCH OVER OUR POLICE AND THEIR VERY SPECIAL K9s. I cried and think a lot about you Kitt. You will never be forgotten. XOXO
