K-9 Vader, losing you brings heartache not just to your partner and your department, but to all of us in the K-9 family. The sudden quiet that now fills the station's halls and your partner's vehicle will be a time of reflection and remembrance of all that you were and could have been. God called you home to join the rest of His heroes, RIP.

As a handler who himself has a partner listed on this page, I can only begin to know what you and your department are going through. My thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathy go out to you and your family. I know they were just dogs, they were a part of the family and a huge part of us. May you rest easy Vadar. Keep Mojo company for me and we will always have your handler in our prayers.

GRIEVE NOT FOR ME
Grieve not for me for it has been ordained,
that my journey here be short.
Grieve not for me for my loyal presence
will ever remain in your heart.
I was sent to be a Guardian,
for the Guardians of Law in Blue.
A fearless, noble protector,
with a bond that few con construe.
With character unshakable,
and senses that are well heightened,
I was sent to be a defender,
so that your burden here would be lightened.
Grieve not for me for in heavenly blue,
our reunion day will come.
Grieve not for me for as partners again,
We will defend a greater Kingdom.

My heart is shattered to smithereens over hearing of the death of Vader, a courageous K-9 with the Virginia State Police's Narcotics Division. I am so sorry for the loss Vader's family and colleagues are feeling at this moment. Vader has crossed over Rainbow Bridge now where he'll, no doubt, keep a careful watch over all the beloved pets who are there. And he'll always be with the men and women of the VSP in spirit.

God bless you all for the work you do to keep us safe every day.
