Reflections for K9 Midas
K-9 Midas, you truly embodied your name as you were priceless to your partner and the department and your heart of gold touched everyone you met. You ARE a precious one, because you now live over the Rainbow Bridge with your Creator who called you home.
Shower down your comfort and peace from above upon Deputy Hoder, his family and your department.

A HEAVENLY HOME…
Are these magnificent creatures now with the Lord Himself in the Heavenly Realm? Pastor and Author Randy Alcorn at EPM.org certainly feels this is factual, and even devoted 2 chapters of his best selling “Heaven” book to establish his case. Many of his inspiring articles are at: https://www.epm.org/search/?q=Animals+in+Heaven. We can also get a glimpse of the Glorious Reunions awaiting their devoted Handlers, Trainers and Owners at ImagineHeaven.net May the Good Lord comfort these intelligent and brave animals and their human family and caring departments accordingly…

A Prayer for K9 Midas:
Thank you for your law enforcement service to the citizens of Hancock County, West Virginia and to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. Let us celebrate your accomplishments and remember your selfless sacrifice in the Line-of-Duty. In Luke 3:6 Jesus promised, “And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” So, death is not the end; it does not have the final say! All dogs do go to heaven because you have a spirit that epitomizes God's unconditional love. After all, DOG is GOD spelt backwards! Now, my furry, four-legged Comrade-in-Blue, rest easy, we will take it from here.
"Well done, good and faithful servant" [Matthew 25:11 ESV]
A Police Dog's Oath:
"I will lay down my life for you and expect nothing but love in return. I protect my officer with my life, and would gladly take a bullet in his/her place. I am sent in to find lost children and fugitives on the run. I find drugs and weapons and even bombs. I am the first sent in and sometimes the last to leave. I am the nose and ears of my officer. I will protect and serve my officer. I would die for my officer and for you. I only ask for compassion and a kind word in return."
Almighty God, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office was fortunate to receive the gift of K9 Midas from You. Now that he has left this life, please help them cope with their loss with strength and courage. I know that their beloved companion no longer suffers, and will live on in many fond memories. May he always be remembered as a trusted colleague who completed his missions with true dedication as he was trained, as well as, the unconditional love he provided his handler and caregivers. May the Lord God bless you always. In Jesus’ holy and mighty name, I pray. Amen.

My deepest sympathies go out to Deputy Hoder and his family as well as the Hancock County Sheriff’s office. Having had the opportunity to train along side Deputy Hoder and Midas was a true pleasure and learning experience. Both are true exemplary examples of a K-9 handler and partner. Midas will truly be missed by the members of the community he served as well as members of the K-9 unit and department.

Midas's Person:
I know neither you nor Midas, but I know that he will remain in your heart forever. Please take comfort in knowing that he knew he was loved and was so happy to have a job to do for you.
Do not blame yourself for these unfortunate circumstances - this was TRULY an accident - there was nothing you could have done to prevent malfunction of mechanical devices.
Thank you for your service to your community.
I will say a prayer for your strength to get through next few days.
