Reflections for K9 Aldo

Officer Lovato,
Your partner and loyal friend K9 Aldo was taken too soon.
No words will take the pain away.
Destiny brought you together, fate separated you.
In his brief life, he made a difference.
Now he will be safe forever in your heart.
Thank you K9 Aldo for your service.

Aldo, you were one of the toughest, baddest mothers out there. I will forever be grateful that my career paralleled yours and your dad's. Great memories for sure! My heart is so heavy for your team but I know that YOU wouldn't have had it any other way, so for that I am thankful. You did exactly as many have done before you which is save Officer's lives, but that does not ease the pain. RIP friend, remember who I am when I'm knocking on Heaven's door, it'll be a door drill just like old times! Hell, I'll even cheat and pay you without a bark! To your dad, I am sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts. Aldo, I'm sure by now you've found your first bad guy who shouldn't be up there, keep it up and we'll see you on the other side!

K9 Aldo:

Thank you for your law enforcement service to the citizens of Greater Salt Lake, Utah and to the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake. Let us celebrate your accomplishments and remember your selfless sacrifice in the Line-of-Duty. However, death is not the end; it does not have the final say! Now, my furry Comrade-in-Blue, rest easy, we will take it from here! May the Lord God bless you, your family, your friends, and your colleagues always. BLUE LIVES MATTER!!!

"For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don't want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should." [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

Some heroes have four legs, a wet nose, and a wagging tail. Thank you for your service. Rest in peace, K-9 Aldo.

My heart breaks for the loss of Aldo. He was an extraordinary K9 with a touch of crazy that made him good at his job.
Handler Luis Lovato and Aldo had a strong bond beyond the partnership at work and were preparing for Aldo's retirement. This is a devastating loss to UPD and the K9 unit. UPD has one of the best programs and the K9's have won various awards and accommodations.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Luis, K9 unit, UPD colleagues. RIP.
