These K9 Officer's with multiple heroic acts above and beyond the call of duty should be awarded the Medal of Honor/Valor from the Dept served. The dogs are the most selfless, brave & loyal officers. They are above most humans and certainly Officer Nicky served the community at the cost of his life. There is a real, true Hero, just like in the old days!!! Godspeed Officer Nicky. Sympathies to his partner.

My thoughts and Prayers go out to all the dog's handlers and families on this website! I know how tough it is to lose a K9 family member! Officer Nicky and all the other dogs I hope you are have fun prancing in the opened fields and having fun all day without worrying about the evil in this world! God Bless!

YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS A BRAVE HERO!

REST IN PEACE NICKY AND ALL OTHER DOGS!

K9 Nicky,
Even after being badly wounded last year, you still were a brave officer when you came back to work. You didn't let the evil ones make you back down. My heart breaks for your handler/family & coworkers as they mourn your loss. My prayers are with them & I know there is a place in Heaven for our 4 legged officers/family members....otherwise, it wouldn't be Heaven to me. Go run in the green meadows now where evil will not be a threat to you.

Sheriff Lombardo, I wanted to send my deepest condolences to you and your family. Although Nicky was your partner on the job, protecting and serving your community, I am sure he was also a huge part of your family, and heart. I know your heart is broken, but Nicky will always and forever remain by your side, that is a true man's best friend. Nicky's memory will live on in all of the hearts that he touched. May God keep you safe and loved all the days of your life.

Nicky, your story exemplifies a true officer, partner and friend. You didn't cower from evil, even though you had felt it's awful pain before. Nope, you never hesitated. You were a true hero. Thank you, Officer, Nicky.

Now, play with all the other animals in the meadows and springs. Play until your hearts content. One day you will hear your partner and friends footsteps and you'll run across that rainbow bridge to meet him and you will play together again.

It is not how an Officer dies that makes him a Hero;
It is how he Lived

I loved hearing that Nicky had recovered from his machete wounds and was so happy to be back on the job. All I can say is that he died doing what he loved, serving his human handlers and helping those in need. Such a sweet boy - may he rest in peace.
