Krijger, thank you for helping keep us safe. My heart breaks. But I know you are in heaven with other fallen Blue. My prayers go out to your handler because I know his heart is breaking too. One day you will be reunited. I will personally work to see that other K9's are protected as much as possible. Know that you are loved.

Not all Heroes walk on two legs....many walk on four. The same goes for my brothers and sisters in blue. Krijger laid his life down to protect an oftentimes ugrateful public. To me, he is a Fallen Brother....RIP Krijger, we have the Watch now.........

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of our brothers and sisters in the Norfolk Police Department, especially to K9 Krijger's handler.

Very few of us will ever truly understand the close relationship that a K9 officer has with their canine partner. At work and at home, the K9 handler forms a bond with their partner that is can only be described as phenomenal. A K9 and his handler trust each other unconditionally and work together like a well oiled machine. They are eager to do their job each and every time they get into their police cruiser, but the most important fact we must remember is that a police K9 would give his life to protect his handler.

Rest in peace K9 Krijger. You have served your police department, your community, and the law enforcement profession admirably!
