It was an honor and a privilege to work along side you and Brandon. You were an outstanding example of what a working dog should be. Your drive and dedication not only showcased your talent, but it made the rest of us work harder to follow in your footsteps. Rest easy now old friend.

K9 Police Officer Hyco you gave your life in the protection of your handler and his other two legged partners. It is now your time to cross over the Rainbow Bridge and make new friends and play all day. There will be no more bad guys to chase after anymore. Hyco thank you for your service to the people of Anderson County. To Hyco's handler stay strong.

Living in the upstate of South Carolina I have seen reports of Hyco on every TV news report since this tragedy occurred. I am so sorry this happened but I know he was just doing his job and working dogs love doing what they are trained to do.

K9 Hyco:

Thank you for your law enforcement service to the citizens of Anderson County, South Carolina and to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office. Let us celebrate your accomplishments and remember your selfless sacrifice. However, death is not the end; it does not have the final say! All dogs do go to heaven because you have a spirit that epitomizes God's unconditional love. And He [Jesus] said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise" Luke 23:43. Now, my four-legged Comrade in Blue, rest easy, we will take it from here. "Well done, good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:11. May the Lord God bless you always.

Hyco was an excellent officer. I am honored to have worked along side him and his handler, Brandon Surratt. They made the perfect team. Hyco was such a well rounded dog that did excellent in every situation. He was great around kids and had a great work ethic. He laid down his life to protect the one he loved the most. We lost a great friend, but he left an impression that will last a lifetime. We will miss you Hyco! Thank you for saving my friend!!!
