Reflections for K9 Mick

Mick, I didn't know you, but I love you for your service and I believe I will see you in heaven. Also, I love you just because you are a dog--one of God's unique gifts to man. There are no bad dogs, and you served us even better than most dogs. Your human family and friends are in my prayers that they may cope with the loss of you--for now.

Mick was such a good dog and he will be sadly missed. It will be a very sad Easter for the City of Portland, Oregon as it mourns the loss of a police dog that has lost his life. I am sure the perpitrators who did this will get a good sentence for what they did. I share the sympathy with the Portland, Oregon Police Department and the whole City of Portland, Oregon. This will be a tough Easter for a police department and a city due to the loss of a police dog who was doing his job going after criminals. Then the criminals take the life of a police dog and put a city and a police department in mourning.

The bond forged between handler and K-9 cannot be explained. You are together 24/7, and trust each other with your lives. I don't know Oregon Law as it pertains to killing a Police K-9, but I hope it is very tough. Thank you Mick, you did your job without hesitation. I hope your handler makes a full recovery, but this is one wound that will never heal 100%.

How difficult it must be for you partner to know you gave your life without even a blink of an eye, your loyalty and devotion will be missed.

You didn't chose your profession, but you did your best in what was chosen for you.

God Bless you, your family, police family and other K-9's and their handlers.
