There is something deeply special about the loyalty and love of working dogs and it is something that I am certain the Pittsburgh PD never took for granted. The photos/videos of Rocco on the news and in social media are simultaneously breaking my heart and filling me with pride because I know that Rocco, on some level, knew he was a brave, proud, loving and strong hero. May peace be found for Rocco's beloved family.

You have guarded our backs, always with that pleasure to please. We have trusted you even when we had our own doubts, and you prevailed. Thanks for never showing fear when there was fear and always going the extra mile no matter what the call was. You will be missed, you will never be replaced. Go and romp in that great puppy heaven, play with the ball and roll on your back forever. You earned it partner.
