K9 Max was shot and killed while tracking an aggravated assault suspect to the Elite City View apartment on Lakemont Drive in College Park at 10:45 a.m.

A subject fired at officers while fleeing a traffic stop by South Fulton Police officers. Later that morning, a tip led K9 Max and his handler to the Elite City View apartments. When the College Park Police Department arrived to assist, K9 Max lunged at one of the officers.

The subject was apprehended during the search and is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and attempting to elude, and willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
