King XV

K9 Louis XV was shot and killed while attempting an apprehension of a robbery suspect in the 1500 block of S Street NW.

Two men had just robbed a store at 1501 S Street NW and fled on foot. K9 Louix XV's handler happened to be on the street nearby and they gave chase after the store owner notified him of the robbery. The handler released K9 Louix XV for an apprehension as the suspects ran into an alley. K9 Louix XV bit one of the men, but the second man grabbed him and fatally shot him. The subject and the officer then exchanged shots and both were wounded.

Both men were arrested.
