K9 Lyka Lukas died after falling from the rooftop of the Dr. A. H. McCoy Federal Building in Jackson, Mississippi.

She and her handler had responded to the rooftop to conduct a search after receiving reports that an unmanned drone had landed on the building. K9 Lyka became startled during the search, broke free from her handler, and fell from the rooftop.

K9 Lyka had served with the Federal Protective Service for 28 months.
