Vem
K9 Vem was died from a knife wound suffered the previous day while protecting his handler.
Vem's handler was attempting to take a vandalism suspect into custody at a local apartment complex. As the officer entered the apartment the man lunged at him with a knife, but K9 Vem immediately took action to protect his handler. Vem was slashed across the throat and died the following day.
