When I assumed command of the Detectives at Squaw Peak Precinct, Dan was one of my detective sergeants. From day one, we got along exceedingly well. I have never seen a more capable officer. He could do about anything that he put his mind to. I thoroughly enjoyed our relationship. When I was PESB commander during the last year before I retired, Dan would often come down and visit me. He felt comfortable in sharing personal information and I felt honored that he would do so. Dan, I still miss you and probably always will. Rest in Peace my friend. Lt. Len Zingg It is very comforting to see that my Brothers friends and coworkers have kept him in their thoughts and still remember him after all the years that have passed by.I kind of expected not to see current reflections, people and things tend to be forgotten over time. So this is a truly touching kindness to my heart and spirit knowing he touched so many so profoundly and is still being remembered. Barbara Kaytor ( Tunney) It has been many years since the tragic assault on these officers. It sincerely broke my heart to hear about this tragedy. To the family and friends, all my blessings and may the good memories stay strong and God bless you all. Detective Connie Davenny When I graduated the academy I was assigned to south phoenix and Danny was a Sergeant down there. He was one of the most knowledgeable street cops I ever worked around. But more then that, he was willing to teach rookies like me what he knew, and he took a personal interest in my safety and career. He was one of a kind. The day Danny and John died, was one of the worst for a great many people; including me. Commander E.H. Quill A truly tragic day for the family, the Police Department and the Community. A friend, a boss and a good person was taken away. RIP. Detective Dave Ames (Ret) Dan was a very fine person and supervisor. He worked for me at Sky Harbor station in the late 70's and was a Sgt I could always depend on. When Dan was on the scene I knew it would be handled without any worry on my part and made my job a lot easier. Lt. I wish my children who were born long after he was gone was able to know him and have him in their lives. My husband now would have enjoyed his company. I'd like to think that I have some of this humor and dedication in me. Danene Moulton (Tunney) Brother Danny it has been a long while since we laughed and joked together. 10/17/04 Captain Robert W. Cannon; Retired 14 years. WOW! Time does fly. Danny was my boss when he was killed by the cocaine impaired attorney in his Mercedes. Danny was driving on duty with John Domblisky. Danny, like John, was also a prictical joker and they were probably coming from planning their next joke on the squad. Danny had the most penalty days off without pay on the PD and was proud of it. He was a great boss and fun to be around. Danny also was an avid bicyclist and would ride 40 miles a day. He used to weigh about 245 but lost all the weight. He loved wearing his old size 54 sport coats at 165 lbs. He looked like a lost child. We all laughed. He is dearly missed. Sgt. Ron Snodgrass Danny, you are missed. Kathleen Morrison MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. A HERO FOR SURE. YOU SERVED WELL MY BROTHER. CHIEF RONNIE WATFORD-RET.
