 | Special Officer Owen McManus Southern Pacific Railroad Police Department Railroad Police Thursday, March 31, 1938 |
Special Officer McManus, today marks the 71st anniversary of your murder. You valiantly defended yourself but sadly it did not save your life. As for the life of your killer, only God can have mercy on his soul.
You gave your life in the service of one of America’s railroads and in doing so helped protect one of our nations most vital assets. Those times have changed and the importance of the Railroad Police seems to have been sidetracked by the companies themselves, we have not forgotten all you did and all our brothers and sisters still do to keep commerce safe.
God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother. Ptl. Jim Leahy, Jr. Harvard University Police Dept. 2009-03-31
No fellow California law enforcement personnel killed in the line-of-duty, should be forgotten.
