Officer Kuba,

Today I honor you for the sacrifice you made for the people
of Houston so long ago. You are not forgotten. Rest easy brother.

The 40th anniversary of your passing was last week and your family remembered. We remember every year. I just wish we would be celebrating your birthday instead of your passing.

Coincidentally, you were the first one to be portrayed after I had just left one of your brother officers from your department a reflection who was just taken from us yesterday, 09-21-2006, in the same tragic way as you. As I said to him,you are a hero and a hero never dies. Thirty nine years later and you will always be remembered.

My dear sweet brother, today is your 39th anniversary of your death. You are missed every day. We talk about you all the time and I have told my son and daughter about the special person you were. My precious husband is now with you and Dad in heaven and you now know the great man I married. The Lord said to keep the faith and that is the way we all carry on until we see you all again. I Love You and miss you. Loving memories and God's Blessings.

I was born on July 3, 1974 and never knew my uncle, but I will never forget him. My mother (Louis Kuba's sister), has made sure that I knew at least a little of the man he was. And yes, you guessed it, my middle name is in honor of him. But it does no end there. I have recently had a son, James Louis Dooley. James, in honor of my recently deceased father, and Louis, in honor of the uncle I have never known.
There is a lot about Louis R. Kuba that is not mentioned on this site. He was married and had an unborn daughter (who is now married & has a daughter of her own) at the time of his death. He also had a large number of brothers and sisters, 5 brothers & 4 sisters. His mother is still alive and his father passed away in 2002.
He would either 63 or approaching 64 years of age by now, if he had lived. I wish that I had know him and talked with him, as I have my other aunts & uncles. I often wonder what he would be like today. He was a man taken too soon and he is sorely missed by his loved ones... even those who have never met him.
