 | Special Officer Charles E. Dillon Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Police Department Railroad Police Thursday, November 20, 1902 |
Uncle Charles,
Your story was kept alive through the generations of our family. Those who knew you are all with you now, but I am so proud to have been able to further preserve your memory. I have visited your grave several times and have always been touched. Unfortunately, more than a hundred years since your death, dedicated officers like you are still falling in the line of duty. My gratitude goes to all of you, and to those who continue to serve.

Charles, although I do not know the circumstances surrounding your death...I do know of the unique dangers of your (our) profession. I instruct a course on officer safety involving railroads and your memory is honored by each officer in every class I teach. God bless.
